April 30, 2022 - We celebrated National Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 28, with an enthusiastic team of men and women led by David Zweier -- VP, Enterprise Program Management Office -- who also brought his young daughter to help. Our newest corporate sponsor volunteers spent the entire day at Rebecca’s Homestead. They came wearing work boots and gloves, jeans, and warm coats to be outside all day in unseasonably cold temperatures. They spent the day away from the comfort of their beautiful corporate headquarters in Branchville, NJ, to get their hands dirty and enjoy some bonding on the beautiful grounds at Rebecca’s Homestead.
Together, our volunteers spread over 30 yards of mulch and 60 yards of wood chips along the new mile-long hiking trail on our property. They finished the chicken coop fencing and did more work around the vegetable gardens to help prepare them for new plantings. All of it was done with smiles on their faces as we talked about different opportunities on the Homestead that would allow them to help us advance our vision.
This amazing opportunity to join hands and hearts with our new corporate sponsor, Selective Insurance, was born from an evening Dennis Elmers spent with Pompton Lakes High School friend Robert Martinelli last summer. His old friend works as Senior Project Manager at Selective Insurance and the two discussed Selective’s community philanthropy. And now here we are, almost a year later, with new friends and more plans to serve. Thank you, Selective Insurance!
